
The BNP and Ganatantra Mancha convened a meeting on Monday to finalize their action plans for the concluding phase of their one-point simultaneous movement against the government.
The hour-long meeting commenced at 7:10 pm and took place at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
Representing the BNP, attendees included party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice Chairman Barkatullah Bulu, and Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal.
On the other side, Ganatantra Mancha was represented by figures such as Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Bangladesh Biplobi Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Ganasamhati Andolon Chief Coordinator Zonaid Saki, Bhasani Onusari Parishad Convener Sheikh Shohidul Islam Bablu, and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab) General Secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan. Ganatantra Mancha was established in 2022 as a platform for parties committed to re-establishing democracy in Bangladesh.
Earlier, the BNP held similar meetings with other political parties, including the 12-party alliance, Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote, LDP, Gonoforum, People’s Party, Ganatantrik Bam Oikya, Labour Party, and NDM.
On October 18, the BNP declared its intention to hold a grand rally in the capital on October 28 as part of the final phase of its ongoing movement. The purpose of this movement is to press for the next election to be conducted under a non-party neutral government.
Announcing the program at a rally in Naya Paltan, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated, “We’ll hold a grand rally in Dhaka on October 28 (Saturday). From this grand rally, our grand journey (of our movement will begin.”
Fakhrul indicated that the opposition would unveil a series of action plans on October 28, and he expressed determination to continue their efforts until the current regime falls.
He emphasized that the grand rally is part of a simultaneous movement involving all political parties that are part of the opposition’s efforts.
